Three years ago, a young boy under my care entered foster care. He loved comic books, and he was one of many boys mentored by the founder of Bettered, Not Broken. That moment changed everything.

The founder realized these boys and many others needed more than encouragement. They needed hope they could hold in their hands. So, he began collecting comic books and asked people across Dallas-Fort Worth to sign them with personal messages of courage. These comics became powerful tools of support, delivered directly to youth facing crisis.

What started as a simple act of kindness grew into a movement. Each year, the foundation reaches a new group of at-risk youth, using superhero stories and mental health education to spark life-changing conversations.

Now, in 2026, the mission takes flight with the first-ever HeroCon. A conference built to inspire thousands through the universal languages of art and media.
